Task 3:

We created a scene to show the backstory of the character you worked on.

Q- What is a backstory?
A back story is the history and life of a character. dictionary definition A history or background created for a fictional character in a motion picture or television program.

Q- Why is it important for actors to understand their character’s backstory?
i believe it is important for actors to know the backstory of a characters back story because it gives you more to work with and you can get more emotionally attached to the characters. And this will help better your performance.

Q -What did you create as a snapshot of your character’s world? Describe what you did and link you choices to the play.
Me and my group decided that he would be brought up in a complicated family situation where he had an abusive step-father and this challenged him to be stronger and stand up for himself witch he cant do even with his imaginary friends telling him to stand up and this relates to the play because he could never stand up for himself and was a push over.

This is the song to represent Adam the character. I believe this is good to reprisent my character because the song is saying if only and thats what i feel Adam has been saying his whole life. he will never been good enough, and he wishes for more,  and in the song he says things he wants to do but he cant achieve.
Task 2:

We created 4 ROLE ON THE WALLS for the characters : Phil, Leah, Brian and Adam.

Q- Did you find out anything new about the character your group worked on?

i found that i did find out new things about my character because before i didn't really think in depth about the character but after we analyzed Adam(my character for analyzation  i then found  out so much about him and this helped us for the next task.

In the most recent lesson we focused on creating the history of a character and exploring what we know from the text.
First we got into groups of 5 and we created a 1 minute version of the play ‘DNA’

Q1 - Why did you do this?
We did this to show are full understanding of the play and be able to brake it down and show it in a 1 minute piece this showed that we new the main points of the play.

Q2- How did it help you?
It helped us because we thought about what were the most important  moments in the play and us our selfs got a better understanding of the structure  and this will really help us when it comes down to the main performance.

Q- What did you notice about all of the pieces that were created? Were their moments that were the same?
I noticed that all the pieces included most of the same main points. One of the points that i believe every group did was include a section of there 1 minute devoted to the explanation of the man who they where going to frame i think this was the section in most pieces that took the most time and was quite detailed  Also i scene that was brought up was the ending where they find out that adam is still alive. these two parts i think had the most time given to them and in all pieces where explained very well.
This is a photo of are script, it is 28 pages long it is short but in that short play a lot happens. its really well written and i feel dennis kelly has really captured the essence of a teenager the was they talk and comunicate with one another. A character the really interests me is Adam because you dont see him until the end but the whole play revoles around him the actions the other people and doing is coming from the situation of Adam, its as if he is controlling all of them.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the play, it is Act one ; scene one. I like this scene because not a lot is said and it is not complex but it tells a story and leaves you wanting more.
The two people in the scene are Jan and Mark and there relation status is friends.
I really enjoyed reading this because of the mystery.
